“Yolanda” is a project that explores my relationship with my grandmother Yolanda, who for several years has been living with an age-related illness that has left her disconnected from the world and from the people around her.
The work is presented as a metaphor for the passage of time and forgetting. Based on photographs found in her personal archive, a narrative unfolds that moves through her birth, childhood, adolescence, married life, and up to the present day… where the photograph gradually fades over time and new images appear and disappear alongside her life.
These final images belong to her children and grandchildren, who share their lives within the space of the page — a memory that no longer exists in Yolanda’s own mind.
