Compositions for Yolanda (2025)
This book-work is part of the ‘Yolanda’ series. A project that speaks of my relationship with my grandmother Yolanda, who for several years has been suffering from an age-related illness that has left her disconnected from the world and the people around her.
The work is presented as a metaphor for the passage of time and forgetting. Based on photographs found in her personal archive, a narrative is created that progresses from her birth, childhood, adolescence, married life, to the present day... where the photograph fades with time and new images appear and disappear accompanying her life.
These last images belong to her children and grandchildren, who share her life on the page, a memory that no longer exists in Yolanda's mind...
